Frequently asked questions
Are lessons online or in person?
Lessons are delivered online, making it easy for children to learn from the comfort of their own home. Online lessons are interactive and use a range of engaging resources to keep children involved throughout the session.
Does my child need to be struggling at school to have tutoring?
Not at all. Tutoring can be beneficial for children who need additional support, but also for children who are already doing well and would benefit from greater challenge, extension or increased confidence. I also work with students who are preparing for selective school entry and other academic assessments, providing targeted support based on their individual goals.
Do you have a working with children check?
Yes. I hold a current Working With Children Check (WWCC) and I’m happy to provide my details to parents upon request.
How do you know what my child needs to work on?
We'll begin by discussing your child's current level, strengths and areas for development. I may use informal assessment and activities during the initial lessons to identify where support or extension would be most valuable. Lessons are then planned around your child's individual needs.
Will you follow what my child is learning at school?
Yes. Where appropriate, lessons can complement your child's school learning. I can work alongside their current curriculum while also addressing any gaps, consolidating key skills or providing additional challenge.
Can you help with homework?
Yes, where appropriate. However, the focus isn't simply on completing homework. I'll use it as an opportunity to help children strengthen their understanding, practise key skills and become more independent learners.
How will I know how my child is progressing?
I'll provide regular feedback on your child's progress, including what we've worked on, areas they're developing well and what we'll focus on next. This gives parents a clear understanding of their child's learning and progress without needing to sit in on every lesson.
How do I get started?
Simply get in touch through the Book a Lesson or Contact section. We can have a chat about your child's needs, what you'd like them to achieve and whether tutoring would be a good fit. You can also reach out to me directly to begin our journey together.
